Phil Taylor


Phil is a graduate of the University of the Cumberland's class of 1982, Williamsburg, Kentucky, and received his Master of Divinity from Southeastern Theological Seminary in 1985. Before coming to Bradley Association, he served as a senior pastor for fourteen years in three Southern Baptist Convention churches in Ohio and Virginia. He taught Seminary Extension for New Orleans Baptist Theological and Southern Theological Seminary of Louisville, KY. He has served with the Southern Baptist International Mission Board as an evangelist in Tanzania, East Africa, Honduras, South Africa, and Sri Lanka.


He has traveled to Romania, Peru, Poland, Ecuador, Nepal, India, South Africa, and twice to Sri Lanka for Tsunami Relief work. He served as a first responder Chaplain in Long Beach, Mississippi the day after Katrina hit the Gulf Coast. He is a frequent speaker at Leadership Conferences, Consultant with Church Consultant Resources, and conducts seminars to help strengthen churches.

Phil has an extensive ministry to the fifty-nine churches that compose the Baptist Association and has built a strong relationship with pastors and lay leaders. Phil has served as an interim pastor and has counseled and mentored many of our Associational churches. He has represented Baptists in many community organizations, and as a speaker in the public schools dealing with the subject of "Ethics in the Workplace." He is well respected throughout the region of Southeast, Tennessee.

Rev. Phil Taylor came to the CrossNet Baptist Network (formerly the Bradley Baptist Association) as Director of Missions on August 9, 1999. Phil is married to Peggy Taylor. Phil is a native of Virginia Beach, Virginia. The Taylor’s came to Cleveland, TN from Fairfield, Ohio. The Taylor’s have two adult children and three grandchildren.
